Timber is a remarkably versatile, economical and natural material for your fencing and landscaping projects. Our high performance, pressure treated timber is an ideal option, but what exactly is it?
Here at WALFORD Timber, a thoroughly tested preservative protection is added in order to ensure timbers used in your fencing and landscaping will stand the most stringent test of them all – the test of time.
Within our Walford site we have our own award winning timber treatment facilities to ensure the very best preservative protection against the threat of decay or insect attack. Safe and proven treatments that extend the service life of the timbers and give you real confidence in their long-term performance.
Our carefully prepared machined softwood timbers are first loaded into our treatment vessels ready for a high-pressure treatment process which forces the TANALITH wood preservative deep into the cellular structure of the timbers. This ensures a highly effective protection that is there for the life of the timber component.
The latest generation of TANALITH preservative we use incorporates award winning BARamine application technologies and together they help provide an advanced protection against certain copper tolerant brown rots as well as ensuring a consistent and deeper preservative distribution throughout the timber.
The whole treatment process is carefully controlled by an innovative computer software programme providing accuracy and consistency with every treatment.
The resulting treated timbers have an initial pale green colouration and as an option we can also supply timbers with a rich brown initial colouration when required.
One product range that in particular benefits from this process is our PERMATIMBER range of ground contact fence posts offering you the extra assurance of a 15-year, product guarantee.
Ground contact timbers are at the greatest risk from decay organisms. Therefore, before treatment we also surface incise the PERMATIMBER posts at ground contact level to help ensure the optimum preservative protection within this critical zone.
If you want to see for yourself the difference we make, ask about our PermaTimber® Fence post sample at our trade counter. They’ll be able to show you first hand the impressive preservative barrier created within the timber structure of a PermaTimber® fence post.
